Corning Classic – 2nd Round

Beth Bader followed up her Thursday 65 with a Friday 66 to get to -13 and a one shot lead at the Corning Classic. Young Kim fired a 64 (NOT the low round of the day) to move into second place at -12. Paula Creamer is third at -10 with Mi Hyun Kim and Becky Morgan tied for fourth at -9.

Once again, par was severely beaten about the head and shoulders. Alena Sharp posted a 63 (11 fewer than Thursday), the best of 45 total rounds in the 60s. Unless we start getting winds of 15 mph or more, somebody is going to have to clear -20 to have a real chance to win. The cut was -1 and M-I-A this weekend will be Jimin Kang, Wendy Ward, Carin Koch, and Constructivist fave Moira Dunn. My fave Grace Park is -5 and tied for 28th.

Sorry about the short recap. Might be forced into the same tomorrow and Sunday – a holiday trip with the family will likely curtail my golf writing a bit, but I’ll try to post at least by the following mornings.

I like Grace Park, too!

Moira's in a bind--she's clearly in a slump, but she loses her card after this year if she doesn't get a top 90 on the money list (that's what it takes for exempt status, right?). So she has to play her way through it rather than take some time off during this 8-week stretch (well, I suppose missing cuts gives you time off, too).
