Fields Open – Epilogue

Paula Creamer won the Fields Open shooting in the 60s all three rounds, but three other players did it too – Jeong Jang, Lindsey Wright and Hee-Won Han. Creamer’s -16 score broke the tournament record by two strokes. Jang also broke the previous record, but…

In my list of players who recorded their first Top 10s in awhile, I omitted the best example of all. Dina Ammaccapane finished T10 for her first Top 10 since 2001. Also, career best finishes were posted by Wright (3rd), Minea Blomqvist (T5), Johanna Head (14th) and Song-Hee Kim (T15). Louise Friberg’s T7 moves her into third-place in the Rookie points race. So who gets the Big Surprise? In a very tough decision, I’m going with Blomqvist as her only other Top 10 came in 2004 at the British Open.

A tough choice for Big Disappointment – there are so many! By missing the cut after opening with a 68, I have to pick Se Ri Pak.

Of the players who made the cut, Michelle Wie finished tied for last – T72. During her GC interview (they didn’t interview Carolina Llano – she was T72 too!) Michelle said she didn’t know when her next event would be. Since she didn’t completely embarrass herself this week, I imagine her next sponsor’s exemption is already in the works.

What’s wrong with Jee Young Lee? T66 after T68 last week, making the cut on the number both times. Her putting and GIR stats are both way off the mark – I hope it’s not because of a physical problem.

Glad to see Minea finally living up to her early promise. She was LET rookie of the year (2004?) and has won couple tournaments over there. Hadn't done much on this side of the pond until now, but still only 22 so plenty of time to correct that. I think she will be a top 10 player one day.
