Lorena Ochoa fired the low round of the day, a 67, to get to -9 and take a three shot lead at the Ginn Tribute. First round leader Angela Park is second at -6, Paula Creamer is third at -5 while Pat Hurst, Angela Stanford and Nicole Castrale are tied for fourth at -4.
Ochoa played bogey-less golf to take charge of the event. Stanford did the same enroute to her 68. Only five rounds in the 60s were carded Friday, compared with eleven on Thursday. Last week’s winner Young Kim posted 69 to move up to -3 and a tie for seventh with Karrie Webb and Giulia Sergas. Host Annika Sorenstam got home with a 71 to tie for 17th at -1.
The cut was +4, claiming Sophie Gustafson, Se Ri Pak, and Stacy Prammanasudh - her first MC of the year. Grace Park withdrew during the round – the last I saw, she was at +6. Brittany Lincicome recovered from Thursday’s 80 to shoot 68 and make the cut right on the number. Juli Inkster, Morgan Pressel and Jee Young Lee were among those who played just well enough to survive to the weekend.
