Stacy Prammanasudh carded a bogey-free round of 67 to take a one shot lead after the first round of the Corona Championship. Lorena Ochoa and Na On Min (in only her second American tour event) are tied for second with Silvia Cavalleri, Moira Dunn, Lisa Fernandes and Linda Wessberg tied for fourth two strokes back.
Min is a Korean who gained non-exempt status at Q-School and hasn’t even played on the Futures Tour yet. She double-bogeyed her second hole of the day but offset that with eight birdies and one other bogey for her 68. The shot of the day was Il Mi Chung’s double eagle on the par-5 8th hole. She sank a 5-wood from 208 yards away. Chung otherwise struggled to a -1 round of 72. Other scores of note include:
Pat Hurst 70
Hye-Jung Choi 70
Liselotte Neumann 70
Julieta Granada 71
Brittany Lang 71
Sarah Lee 72
Angela Park 72
Meaghan Francella 73
Jee Young Lee 76
Ai Miyazato 76
Nicole Castrale 78
The scoring was helped by lift-clean-place rules (“playing the ball up”, or “ball in hand” as the players often say) but was hurt by winds that picked up a bit in the afternoon.
