Annika Sorenstam, Paula Creamer and Sophie Gustafson share the lead at -6 after two rounds at the Samsung World Championship. Sherri Steinhauer is in fourth place one shot back, with Karrie Webb and Lorena Ochoa two shots behind.
Creamer birdied 16 and 18 to top off her round of 68. Through seven holes, Gustafson was at -8 (-4 on the day), but then posted four bogeys along with two birdies to come home with 70. Annika started strong with three birdies over the first five, but gave it all back at 8 and 9 when she bogeyed and double-bogeyed. An up-and-down back nine finished “up” when she birdied 18 to score 71. Steinhauer had the round of the day, posting a 67 to move into contention. After playing the front nine Thursday in +3, Steinhauer has now gone 27 straight holes without a bogey (with eight birdies during that stretch).
Overall, the scoring was lower Friday than it was Thursday. Only five players shot over par Friday, and the worst score was +2 74 by three players (SH Lee, Pak & Kim). If you consider anybody within 10 strokes to still have a chance of winning, only Jeong Jang and Gwladys Nocera (both +7) are out of it. Looks like it should be an exciting weekend.
