Seon Hwa Lee and Kristy McPherson posted 64 to share the lead at the rain-delayed P&G NW Arkansas Championship. Helen Alfredsson is in third place one shot behind while Jeong Jang, Jee Young Lee and H.J. Choi are tied for fourth, two shots back.
The calendar change for this tournament couldn’t avoid the dreaded rain delays – Friday’s start was delayed five hours by torrential rains and the afternoon groups were trying to finish this morning but play was suspended again about 10:15am EDT with 33 players still playing. Scores of note (with incomplete rounds in parentheses):
-5 Ai Miyazato, Eun-Hee Ji, Meena Lee
-4 Karen Stupples, Soo-Yun Kang, Kelli Kuehne (13)
-3 Morgan Pressel, Stacy Lewis, Giulia Sergas, Michelle McGann (16)
-2 Inbee Park, Stacy Prammanasudh, Brittany Lang, Louise Friberg
-1 Na Yeon Choi, Christina Kim, Jane Park, Jimin Jeong
E Cristie Kerr, Mi Hyun Kim, Hee-Won Han, Sun Young Yoo
+1 Paula Creamer, Momoko Ueda, Song-Hee Kim
+2 Diana D’Alessio, Janice Moodie, Jin Joo Hong
+3 Lindsey Wright, Ashleigh Simon, Erica Blasberg (13)
Alfredsson made the turn at -1 but played her final nine (the course’s front side) in 30. McPherson’s 64 is the lowest round of her two-year LPGA career and Lee’s is her lowest round of 2008.
The current forecast for the rest of day calls for isolated t-storms, 30% chance, so they should be resuming shortly. TV coverage starts at 1:30pm EDT on CBS.
