Angela Park posted 68 to take the second-round lead at the Evian Masters. Helen Alfredsson is one shot behind at -9 after her course-record 63. Cristie Kerr, Juli Inkster, Candie Kung, In-Kyung Kim and Meena Lee are tied for third at -8, two shots back.
Park made her way around the Evian Masters Golf Club without a bogey for the second straight day. Alfredsson broke the record of 64 (done five times previously and nearly tied by Lorena Ochoa on Thursday) with a 32 on the front and 31 on the back. A birdie at 18 sealed the deal. Kerr managed a 66 despite taking double-bogey at 5. Kung was sailing along at -10 after nine holes but dropped two shots over the back nine.
First-round leader Ochoa struggled – three bogeys over the first six holes and +2 over the last eight holes led to a 73, leaving her at -6 and tied for eighth with Na Yeon Choi and Shi Hyun Ahn. Laura Diaz and Sun-Ju Ahn also faltered, with 73 and 74 respectively to fall to -4 T16. Another 73-74 pairing was Amy Yang and Suzann Pettersen, who both now stand at -3 T23. Good moves were made by Choi (67), SH Ahn (69), Paula Creamer, Momoko Ueda and Hee Young Park (all three 69 -5 T11).
19 players missed the +4 cut, including Brittany Lincicome, Catriona Matthew, Jee Young Lee and Louise Friberg. Jane Park, Nicole Castrale and Laura Davies all slipped in just under the wire, joining Jeong Jang, Karrie Webb and Hee-Won Han in tomorrow’s early groups.
