Mhairi McKay fired a 63 to take the first-round lead at the Michelob Ultra. Annika Sorenstam and Sun Young Yoo both posted 64 and are tied for second place. Lorena Ochoa and Diana D’Alessio are tied for fourth after their rounds of 65.
73 rounds under par, 58 rounds in the 60s, 11 rounds of 66 or better – pick your favorite superlative for the scoring we saw today. How about this one? 15 players shot 68 Thursday and they are all tied for 20th place, five shots out of the lead. Who shot what? Here you go:
66 Stacy Prammanasudh, Song-Hee Kim, Hee Young Park
67 Jeong Jang, Karen Stupples, Inbee Park, Meena Lee
68 Jee Young Lee, Cristie Kerr, Juli Inkster, Maria Hjorth
69 Mi Hyun Kim, Seon Hwa Lee, Na Yeon Choi
69 Natalie Gulbis, Angela Stanford, Louise Friberg
70 Karrie Webb, Laura Diaz, Momoko Ueda, Christina Kim
71 Suzann Pettersen, Paula Creamer, Lindsey Wright, Laura Davies
72 Morgan Pressel, Nicole Castrale, Jane Park
74 Hee-Won Han, Brittany Lincicome, Moira Dunn
75 Sherri Steinhauer, Michelle Wie
76 Angela Park
I normally list Grace Park’s score here but I’m not in the mood to embarrass her. She withdrew after the first 18 holes last week so my euphoria from her performance at the Stanford International has completely evaporated. Good to see Stacy P come out smoking after having to miss playing at home because of the flu last week. McKay tied her career best with today’s 63 – she last posted that number seven years ago at the Wendy’s Championship.

What's with Grace Park's performance of late? Any insights would be great on this mystery?
