Corning Classic – 3rd Round

Jeong Jang and Erica Blasberg are tied for the lead at -7 going into the final round of the Corning Classic. Katherine Hull and Leta Lindley are tied for third at -6, Song-Hee Kim is fifth at -5 while five other players (including Mi Hyun Kim) are tied for sixth at -4.

We have the makings of a real Sunday Free-For-All with 29 players starting the day within five shots of the lead, meaning that virtually anyone from the last 15 groups could make a run at it. Included among those 29 are second-round leader Dina Ammaccapane, who fell to -2 with her round of 76, Hee-Won Han, whose 67 places her at -3 and Rookie of the Year leader Na Yeon Choi, whose 71 also leaves her at -3. Han and Emily Bastel both made the cut on the number Friday (+2) and shot themselves right into contention with 67s. Those who need to go really low today to have a chance are at -1 or even, like Paula Creamer, Meena Lee, H.J. Choi (all -1) and Janice Moodie (even par after her Saturday 77).

Not the best of recaps today – I didn’t see much of the telecast last night. For a much more informative post, I’ll refer you to Mostly Harmless
where TC actually DID see the GC coverage for a change. As wild as this final round appears to be shaping up, it would behoove me to watch and recap it properly.
