How do you say it?

MasterCard Classic champion Louise Friberg - do you pronounce her last name Free-berg or do you pronounce it Free-bye (as it says on her bio page at lpga.com)? The LPGA's official week-in-review video at YouTube calls her Free-berg, the Golf Channel calls her Free-bye (presumably from reading her bio page), the commentators at ESPN Deportes called her Free-berg, and I've been calling her Free-berg simply because "this bird [berg] you cannot change".

Lord knows, I can't change...

He name is not free-berg, but I don't think the same sound combination exists in english. Closest is more something like:

free-berj
free-beri
free-bay (this might actually be best)
free-bei
free-bayr

WTH, I don't think she really cares.

Mikke (swedish too)

Let's hope she keeps winning so we can find even more variations on it!

Thanks Mikke. I was hoping one of my occasional Swedish visitors would help me out. I don't like going around mispronouncing players' names, now that I have Nirapathpongporn and Gulyanamitta down pat!

Mulligan Stu contacted Friberg herself and she says you're right, HD!
