The Bell Micro LPGA Classic has been added to the 2008 schedule. Scheduled for September 8-14 at the Crossings Course in Mobile, Alabama (where the Mitchell TOC was contested in November), the Bell Micro will be a full-field event.
While I'm glad the event has been added, it puts an odd quirk in the schedule. This event gets played in Mobile Sept 11-14, followed by a week off, then the Navistar event is held Sept 25-28 near Montgomery. Reckon any of the players will be cooling their heels for a week down at Gulf Shores?
There is still a three-week gap between the HSBC in Singapore (Feb 28-Mar 2) and the Safeway International (Mar 27-30) that really needs to get filled.
One more thing - even with the three weeks off in March, this is now a 32-event schedule. Which is an increase of four from 2007 (five if you subtract the rained out Arkansas tournament) and has an 11-week stretch of consecutive events from the end of March through June 8th. The ladies might need a layoff going into that grind.
