The ’08 schedule is out, and there aren’t any surprises…until you get near the end.
The Mitchell TOC isn’t there. Nor is the Thailand event.
Now I know why they waited so late to post next year’s schedule – so they wouldn’t have to hold this year’s TOC and Thailand events with everyone knowing they would be the last ones. Some of us who live in the general vicinity of these events might have liked to know that before it was too late.
There is a three-week gap in March between the HSBC Championship in Singapore and the Safeway. Maybe they should travel back through Thailand the weekend of March 9. There's also a two-week gap in September where they could visit Mobile (or even better, Atlanta!).
UPDATE: The press release at lpga.com sheds light on a couple of things. It mentions they still "hope to return to Mexico City" in March, so that will fill one of those weekends. The Mobile event is mentioned as under negotiation, so that could be in September. And the Thailand event will return in March of 2009, to either precede or follow the HSBC in Singapore. If you check out the link, you'll probably want to skip Bivens' opening comments - lots of pomp and little circumstance. The comments by Chris Higgs and the Q&A afterwards has all the good info.

The reason there is no Thailand event is the tournament will be in the early Asian swing(along with Singapore) in 2009. The sponsors could not do 2 tournaments in a short time, so the tournament is on temporary hiatus.
