Suzann Pettersen continued to blister Blackhawk Country Club, following her Friday 65 with a 64 to take the third-round lead at the Longs Drugs Challenge. Lorie Kane is in second place one shot back at -11, Lorena Ochoa is third at -10 while Juli Inkster is a distant fourth at -5.
Two eagles, at 5 and 9, fueled the Pettersen charge. She played holes 5 through 11 in -7. A bogey at 14 was the only blemish on her day. Playing with Pettersen, Ochoa carded a 67 but failed to make the Sunday final group when she bogeyed 12 and 14. Kane overtook Lorena for that honor with four birdies in her last eight holes. A four-time winner on tour, Lorie is looking for her first victory since 2001. Second-round co-leader Karrie Webb struggled to a 74, falling eight shots behind Pettersen.
Unless she stumbles badly today, Liselotte Neumann (-1 T11) will earn enough to finish in the Top 90 and allow her to save her Code 7 exemption for another time. Jill McGill and Kristy McPherson (both +1 T22) are making strong bids to jump up while Dina Ammaccapane (+3 T38) is hanging on for dear life.
Sarah Lee withdrew after completing her third round due to illness.
