Kim Saiki-Maloney, Birdie Kim and Angela Park all opened with rounds of 67 to share the lead at the LPGA Championship. Karrie Webb, Morgan Pressel, Stacy Prammanasudh and Laura Davies are tied for fourth after posting their 68s.
The weather was perfect and so were the scoring conditions. 37 players carded scores that were under par. Here are a few of the scores:
69 Brittany Lincicome, Pat Hurst, Suzann Pettersen
70 Annika Sorenstam, Nicole Castrale, Mi Hyun Kim
71 Paula Creamer, Sarah Lee, Shi Hyun Ahn
71 Lorena Ochoa, Seon Hwa Lee, Jee Young Lee
72 Meaghan Francella, Julieta Granada
73 Se Ri Pak, Jeong Jang, Juli Inkster, Angela Stanford, Michelle Wie
74 Sherri Steinhauer
75 Ai Miyazato, Cristie Kerr
78 Young Kim
As you can see, Annika Sorenstam and Michelle Wie both made improvement from last week. I just now noticed that Natalie Gulbis was not in the field. She withdrew after round one of the Ginn Tribute due to injury, although I have yet to hear what the problem is. UPDATE: According to her website, it is a back injury. Natalie is expected to return for the Wegman's event starting June 21.
I was absolutely wrong…Dottie Pepper was the one to bring up Morgan Pressel’s stolen clubs. The amazing thing was, they weren’t even 30 minutes into the coverage when she mentioned it! And then sure enough, Morgan starts talking about it during her interview after she finished. Don’t these people read my blog? It got worse…at about 2:30 EDT they lost the feed from Bulle Rock for about 20 minutes, and then they lost it again about 3:15…I gave up trying to watch at that point. They said tonight’s replay will show the missed action, but with our luck their video server will probably suffer a hard-drive failure during the last hour.
