Longs Drugs - 1st Round

Jeong Jang fired a 64 to open the Longs Drugs Challenge with a three shot lead. Karrie Webb and Lorie Kane both carded a 67 to tied for second, with Lorena Ochoa, Candie Kung and Jill McGill all four strokes back.

Pre-tourney favorite (by me, at least) Annika Sorenstam overcame a shaky start to post a -2 round of 70. Mi Hyun Kim one-upped Annika by starting +4 through four holes and recovering to shoot 70 (-6 over the last 14). Hee-Won Han, Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer all shot 69 as did Jimin Kang, who was playing for the first time since withdrawing from the LPGA Championship with a stress fracture in her foot. Less successful returns-to-action were made by Se Ri Pak (73) and Grace Park (76). Also, Natalie Gulbis did not start - I haven't seen any info on why.

I’ll go into some detail about the players who are on the Top 90 bubble after the second round. So far #99 Minea Blomqvist is on the right track, opening with a 69.
